Welcome to Reed Creek Farm!
The Simmons’ Family has resided here on Reed Creek Farm since 1997. This lovely working farm is a peninsula situated between Grove Creek and – surely not to your surprise – Reed Creek just off of the Chester River.
On this peninsula, historically called Wright’s Neck, sits the “Reed’s Creek” house, built by Colonel Thomas Wright in 1775. See link for historical background. In 1999, the Simmons family added a brick wall to the northeast edge of the “Reed’s Creek” house. This wall provides border, modified shade and wind protection for Marcia Simmons’ Anglo-style garden. From poppies to butterfly bushes and of course multiple varieties of lavender, this garden was a delight for Marcia and for many generation to come. Last, you will find on this peninsula that we still use 170 acres of its land for farming. Rotational Crops, CRP Strips, whatever the season may bring.
Please enjoy this site. Learn more about our beautiful home, its history and our family.
