Diverse perennials bloom throughout the season beginning with the hellebores in winter; however, spectacular color combinations are noteworthy in late May and mid July. The late spring garden is highlighted with peonies, baptisia, iris, clematis, hydrangea, lavender and the first blooms of all types of roses. The mid-summer yields Lord Baltimore hibiscus, montbretia, lilies, verbena bonariesis, buddleia, agastache and phlox. Additionally, the late summer and fall promises a re-bloom of lavender and many roses plus asters, chrysanthemums, caryopteris and anemones. Even though the farm is located in zone 7, some annuals come back each year whereas some hearty perennials do not return the following year. And of course every year brings new discoveries of reseeded plants throughout the garden.
